Pledge of Mutual Respect and Cooperation Between Sunni Muslim Scholars, Organizations, and Students of Sacred Knowledge

Update: MR has put me on the spot, by listing me under those who are “joining the conversation” – but there is obviously a lack of “conversation” here! I do have at least one silly analogy to share, but no time to share it. Maybe in a week from now, when i pray that my life becomes officially thesis-free – inshā’Allāh.

Signatories to the pledge:

Commitment Issues

// August 29th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

I'm thinking of re-naming my blog to “100 reasons why I love Suhaib Webb, for the sake of Allāh”. But that would be taking things a tad too far, methinks. After all, he ain't no superstar. {grin}

Me, Myself & You

// August 3rd, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

Recently, i have become very conscious of how easily influenced i am by the people i associate with. I'm not referring to my reaction to overt peer pressure, but rather, the way in which i subtly adopt the mannerisms, and even outlook, of my immediate company.

That pretty much describes my last 24 hours. Lemme break it down for ya:

Let The Conversation Begin

I am absolutely love, love, LOVING this video posted by darling gess, on IJTEMA. It's short and terribly sweet, māshā’Allāh.

Big Hug

// July 4th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

Browsing my old blog hangouts, i suddenly felt very left out,
and in need of one of these:

big hug

{ Image borrowed from here with slight editing}

I just need to get a grip – no pun intended.

A Simple Doodle, Or Something More Sinister?

This is what happens when you spend too much time on my blog. Unique has fallen victim to an acute case of iMuslim-mania. She just can't get me out of her head, apparently. She has also taken liberties with my username, by adding 'ah' to the end. This is a sign that the disease is getting worse, as that is my lesser-known YouTube ID (some highly unoriginal brother stole “iMuslim”, cha).

In her defense, the patient claims that she was simply doodling while she was on the phone, and this all happened “subconsciously”. These kinds of delusions are to be expected from sufferers of iMuslim-mania. It is obvious to any healthy individual, that bloggers are quite incapable of using the phone; Skype is much preferred over a hard-line connection. Besides which, bloggers are notoriously geeky, and are thus unlikely to have any friends to talk to.

Poor child… we can only pray that her sanity is returned to her intact.

What is Anonymity?

// May 14th, 2007 // 13 Comments » // Blog

I was going to write this as a comment in response to Unique's latest entry, but decided that it might be worth an entry of its own.

The question i have posed in the subject, is not the most profound. In the end, a dictionary will provide an adequate and straightforward answer:

1. without any name acknowledged, as that of author, contributor, or the like: an anonymous letter to the editor; an anonymous donation.
2. of unknown name; whose name is withheld: an anonymous author.
3. lacking individuality, unique character, or distinction: an endless row of drab, anonymous houses.

Anonymity has its uses, and can be quite empowering. But what is the point of anonymity, with people whom you have developed a bond of trust? The sisters who have access to my protected posts know my real name, my location, my job. Has it affected my writing? Not that i can tell.

So, why did i unveil the blogger's mask?

Just Five Minutes

I want to know what you're thinking, but i'm afraid to ask.
I'm afraid to know the answer.
I'm afraid you won't look at me the same, anymore, after i utter the question.

Have you ever been in this situation? I'm sure that you have, with all sorts of people, at many different times in your life.

A Friendship That Spans Eternity

// May 3rd, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

I want to share with you, something – something that touched my heart so deeply, that it made me weep. Although i admit to being an emotional creature, i don't tend to cry very easily, unless i am really moved, or upset. I actually found this site last week, but due to the personal nature of its contents, i decided to first ask for permission from the author to link to it, which she has now gracefully granted to me. The only request she had was that whoever reads it, makes dua for her friend's soul; i am sure you will oblige her request, inshā’Allāh. Please also show due respect, if you decide to leave a comment.
