In fact, I actually felt my own Nafs, when separated from its chief misleader the Shaytaan, was actually weaker than I thought it was. Reading a small portion of the Quran can seem difficult outside Ramadan but these days, you hardly feel a thing when you go on reciting and praying. Your comment also raises an important point... what is our real potential as slaves of Allah? When we feel sad that our hearts are not softening and that we cannot exert ourselves to be better Muslims, this is the thing to remember! Ramadan brings out the best in you. Jk!
