Wikipedia cites Scotland as the origin of the fried Mars Bar. I was living in Newcastle at the time they hit the news and I can’t personally remember who to blame for it, just that it had some connection with my heritage.

One thing I definitely know that was served in Newcastle chip shops was a deep-fried mince pie (the savoury ones, not the ones at Christmas time).

A pastry based pie should obviously be oven baked not deep fried. It was really disgusting when you bit into it all the fat that had been absorbed literally poured out.

Ive never had a fried Mars Bar in my life :p Infact it wasn’t even a Scottish invention! Some chippy owner in Carlisle or Newcastle started the craze :p

FYI: the ‘goofs’ were numerous typos that I made, that I only noticed after publishing the entry… the entry itself is not a ‘goof’, hehe.

Lucy: I wouldn’t mind some pizza being thrown at my face… as long as it was in bite size pieces. Throw some olives on there too, to be healthy, hehe.

It’s nice to know that us Scots contributed something to world.

When I was at Uni in Glasgow I think it was the stabbing capital of UK at the time. But that statistic changed shortly after I left, strange!
