Dearest Parents: The Way To Your Child’s Heart Is Not Through Her Stomach!

// July 18th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

Have you eaten yet?

Have you eaten yet?

Are you hungry?

Would you like something to eat?

Have you had breakfast?

Have you had lunch?

We're having an omelette;

Would you like one too?

How about some tea?

Just one sip!

Eat this banana.

Eat this pear.

C'mon, if you love me!

You never eat anything.

Are you dieting again?

The neighbours mentioned you look thin.

They think i don't feed you!

I tell them you don't eat!

Eat. Eat. Eat.

Food. Food. Food.

Have you eaten yet?

Have you eaten yet?

Dinner's on the table.

Have you eaten yet?

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGH

No.

I have not.

Because..

I..

am..

Not..

HUNGRY!!

Sigh

It is only because they care.

They Stole My Sleep

(Update: But Allāh Gave Me Hope)

I deleted the original entry of the same name, soon after i posted it at 4am this morning. In it, i basically complained about a pickle of a mess that i am in with one of my PhD projects. I was quite upset about it at the time, so much so, that i couldn't sleep (hence the title), so i wrote about it here, to try and vent. Alhamdulillah, in that sense, it worked, but once i got on the prayer mat a few minutes later, for Fajr (dawn) prayer, i started to regret what i had written, simply because i knew it was an exercise in futility. None of you can help me with my problem, other than to offer a few words of sympathy – but i don't need your sympathy, i need help! And i know that the only one who can help me, is Allāh. Of course, i have to do my part as well (in this case, chase up some people who are messing me about), but really, all along with this particular problem – in fact, with this entire PhD – i have had to turn to Allāh for help, when everyone else is turning away from me; running away, sometimes.

In fact, the two lessons i will, inshā’Allāh, take with me from this whole PhD experience, are:

She’s Back & This Time, It’s Impersonal

// July 12th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blog

Yes, i have returned to Facebook.

BUT!

It's for the “greater good” – honest!

I have signed up under my pseudonym; you can find me as IMuslim UK. It's supposed to be iMuslim UK, but you can't have everything.

This time round, i am actually open to random people befriending me – well, random bloggers. Just in case you're the easily confused type, we won't really be “friends”, so don't push your luck.

For those Muslim bloggers who are already signed up to FB, please join the group Muslim Bloggers (it's Facebook, not rocket science).

It's all part of my dastardly scheme for world domination – kinda – so please comply with my request, else i'll be forced to turn you into a pile of ashes, with my super-charged, lazer-guided, death ray (patent pending).

Kind regards,

Your Benevolent Leader (to be)

I was watching this mental video on Sharique's blog, using my iBook. When the footage reached the “instant replay” stage, my screen suddenly went blank, though the audio was still working (in time for me to hear the “Nooooo!”, which was what i was thinking!). This has never happened before, which lead me to conclude that my iBook was so aghast by the act of Applocide it was being forced to display, it broke down in pain.

Poor babe… i'm sorry. This world is a cruel place! But you know i love you, right? {hugs iBook}

You’re Joking, Right?

I just finished reading a great set of notes on the women scholars of hadith (Al-Muhaddithat; pdf file), written by Mohammad Akram Nadwi – jazakallah to DrJash for the heads up.

Here is an excerpt from the introduction:

Whoever said that women cannot read maps, is clearly wrong. I can read a map just fine, thanks. Parallel parking on the other hand… eep.
